It was about 2800 BC when the Ancient Greeks, Babylonians, and Mesopotamians made the first soaps. Even earlier they were known to wash their bodies with water, blocks of clay, sand, and ashes. Then they anoint themselves with olive oil, known for its moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Years later, the Greek physician, Galen recommended soap for medicinal and cleansing purposes.
